How thoughts Become Things poster

A brand new film called HOW THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS shed new light on several of the ideas and concepts that were shared in the 2006 Law of Attraction film The Secret. The Secret was an international global phenomenon that inspired people everywhere to activate something called the law of attraction in their lives. The concept was simple Thoughts Become Things and the universe responds to our feelings on a level of frequency and vibration. Many people scoffed at the idea while other embraced it as a new way of being.

Over a decade later the film HOW THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS is ready to answer the questions left behind from The Secret. In this effort to set the record straight some of the new revelations around the power of thought, the law of attraction, the role of emotions, overcoming negative thinking and quantum physics will astound you. Some of what you thought you understood on this subject will cause you to rethink what you have previously believed. In HOW THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS you will discover the process of HOW your thoughts develop and create your reality. You will also discover the process of BECOMING which refers to the changes that proper and empowered thinking can bring into your life.

Featured in this film are several returning starts from the film THE SECRET and several new additions who will add much to the conversation.

This film features Bob Proctor, John Demartini, Joe Vitale, John Assaraf, Marie Diamond, Denis Waitley, Bob Doyle, Douglas Vermeeren, Travis Fox, Meagan Fettes, Karen Perkins and Marina Bruni.

Here are few thoughts from the film:

Emotion is what is creating your life. You cannot create without emotion. – Joe Vitale

Scarcity thinking is manifest in jealousy, comparison, Competition, Criticism and complaining.  If you want to improve your situation you need to let go of scarcity thinking. – Douglas Vermeeren

Sometimes people are afraid to think differently than their families, their friends, their neighbours or their colleagues  because then they will stand out.  And if they stand out they could be left out.  – Marie Diamond

What you believe to be true is true for you. But it’s not necessarily based on reality.            – Dr. Karen Perkins

Some people think that to make the law of attract work, to be able to create a life you love that you can never have a negative thought and that’s just not true. – Bob Doyle

There’s a huge difference between having thoughts and thinking. Thinking involves higher cortical functions of the brain, whereas thoughts, they’re just there. They’re random. Some make sense, some don’t . Our job then is to be aware of the thoughts.          – John Assaraf

Thinking is in my opinion the highest thinking that we are capable of. The problem is that most people do not think. Although its the highest function we are capable of very few people do it. – Bob Proctor

If we look around us pretty much everybody is on automatic pilot. Most of the time. Unless you have very good control of your thoughts, unless you are very intentional. – Marina Bruni

Reality is different for every human being.  Because reality is based on what we perceive we’ve heard from our family and from our environment and what it means to us.               -Denis Waitley

Our thoughts become things. And our inner most dominant thought becomes our outer most tangible reality. Whatever you think about most you bring about most in life.             – John Demartini

Where do money problems come from? Science of getting Rich minute by Douglas Vermeeren

Money problems are never the result of money or a lack of money for that matter. The root for money problems can always be found in how you feel and think about money. If you focus on the lack of money that is what you will create. If you don’t value your money you will soon have none. All money issues are a result of the strategies and efforts of the person behind the money experience. You are the driver, so to speak, and your money is the vehicle. As the driver you control the destination you will arrive at. If you want to have fewer money problems you need to change the way you are leading your resources. #thescienceofgettingrich #douglasVermeeren #Wallacewattles #thescienceofgettingrichtoday

Want to be a leader? How do you start your day? by The Speaking Business Multiplier

the_speaking_business_multiplier_logo02Want to be a leader? How do you start your day?

by Douglas Vermeeren, The Speaking Business Multiplier

There are lots of ideas out there on how to grow a speaking business but one that I don’t hear repeated very often centers around how you start your day. As a speaker, coach or trainer how you start your day will have a direct impact on how you can influence the day of someone else. Think about this for a minute: What makes you a speaker worth listening to? The answer is simple. It’s the value you add to the lives of others. If you are able to share powerful strategies, insights and concepts you will have the power to lift others to higher levels. And if you are not willing to push higher and go deeper than your students you will eventually have none. Why? Because if you can not add high value those students will look elsewhere.

sunriseSo on to the point of this article. How are you starting your day? I have had the chance to surround myself with many of the top thought leaders in the world. Many of them are my close friends and I have spent many private moments with them off stage that has revealed how they are in reality. The most important common attribute I have found is how they start their day.

How you start your day often dictates the rest of the activities you engage in through out the rest of the day. In other words if you start in control of your day you keep it. If you start chaotic that’s the trend that continues.

th

Recently I was listening to a Navy Seal talk about the idea of starting the day right. Your first victory is getting out of bed. If you can conquer the pillow it sets the pace for the rest of the day. I also liked the idea he talked about of starting early. When you start early you have the control of the moment. You are not competing with others for what you want. If everyone else is asleep you can decide everything according to your priorities. Those of you with children understand what I mean. If you wait to get up until they are up – they set the pace and make the rules.

John and I working on The Treasure Map movie.

One of my close friends is John Demartini. You may know John from The Secret or my films The Opus, The Gratitude Experiment or The Treasure Map. John is a deep well of information and if you’ve ever heard him speak you will most likely be amazed at how much information he retains.  He can with little effort go into incredibly deep principles on human behavior, quantum physics and ancient philosophy that baffles most people. He can easily quote hundreds of sources on all of these subjects and present the references and additional insights without much effort at all. He truly makes it look easy. Once I was chatting with him about how he is able to retain so much in depth information and how he is able to have it at his fingertips. His answer was that each day he spent several hours reading and researching what he teaches. He has done this now every day consistently for decades. If you want to have a similar command of your subject matter it is essential you give it the same kind of attention.

John and I at the filming for The Gratitude Experiment

One of the other side effects that I have seen first hand with John has really inspired me. The first time I saw it was at one of our movie premieres. After the film we opened the floor to questions and answers from the audience. One of our audience members I really think was out to stump John. He was a philosophy major at the local university and he really knew his stuff. The audience was a bit weirded out with the deep questions he asked and it was almost as if this audience member was looking to debate or have a contest where he wanted to prove that he was the smartest guy in the room. But because John knew his stuff not only was he able to turn it into a valuable experience for all, he was actually able to win the “heckler” into siding with him. (Yes, we do get hecklers in this business too.)

(As a side note people often ask me how I get to work with so many of the top speakers in the personal development and self improvement industry. Or how I am able to get so many TV appearances and radio interviews? Or any other thing I am doing that brings my business more visibility and success. My answer always comes back to preparation and making sure I know my content. This may sound simple but the more value you can provide the more opportunities will appear for you.)

I am firm believer the reason that coaches and speakers sometimes get a bad rep out there as  less than powerful essentials for business is that many who claim to be leaders are actually cutting corners. Whenever I hear someone say “I don’t need a coach” or “I’ve already heard enough motivational speakers.” I know that they have run across someone who has not pushed themselves to be valuable to their audience.

The beginning of the day should be dedicated to expand their mind. Experts begin the day by studying their subject matter. I know I have talked about the importance of developing content before but this is such an important subject. If you want to be considered an expert in your field you cannot be comfortable with what you already know. Those who are satisfied to feel comfortable (in any field) never move from where they are to where they could be. Think about it. Getting up out of a comfortable chair to rise to a new location doesn’t happen unless you are really committed. It applies on a lazy Sunday afternoon as much as it does to life. If you want to become better your will power has to be more powerful than your desire to stay comfortable.

unspecified-copy

Often as I conduct my seminars for speakers I ask them to get uncomfortable. Sometimes this means thinking about your business in new ways. That can be very uncomfortable. As I ask people to do this many people simply shrug and say ‘well, I like things the way they are.’ If that’s the case you’ll always stay with what you have. But in the same breath they will say they want better results. If you want better results you must level up the activities that created those outcomes.

So here’s the challenge for this article. Dedicate at least an hour each day to expanding your mind in regards to your speaking business. The three areas I would invite you to focus on would be 1) You personally – What do you need to master so that you can become more effective, motivated and happy. 2)The Content you teach. What can you find to help your students. What is out there now? How can you teach it better? How can you make it unique to your voice? How can you turn it into an exercise or activity?  3)Your speaking, coaching, training business? What is really going on now? What is missing? What could be improved?

Set some goals. Take some action. Most of this stuff you may teach already. Make sure you are applying it too.  A lifeguard can’t save others until they know how to swim themselves.  Set a goal to give your best to others and soon they will give their best to you in the form of compensation, word of mouth and recommendation.

Get to Work – Douglas Vermeeren

In 2006 the most misunderstood personal development movie in the world came out. That’s right I’m talking about The Secret. With the movie appeared a concept many people had never hear of before “The Law of Attraction” became the hot topic of conversations everywhere. While I am a firm believer of the law of attraction it quickly became evidently clear that most people had the wrong idea of what it was and what was required to activate the law.

One of the more memorable experiences that I had was with a friend of mine. After just learning about the Law of Attraction he told me how he was going to test it out by using it to acquire a brand new Ferrari. Long story short, after meditating, hoping and wishing for his Ferrari something happened. I’ll never forget the day he invited me for lunch to show off his Ferrari. As I sat at the table across from him he pulled out the business card for his new assistant whose last name was Ferrari. It had arrived but not in the way he expected.

It was a valuable lesson. we can’t leave what we want out of life to a wish, want, dream or regular thinking. Those things are important. But without the element of work focused on a specific outcome you have very little control over what arrives in your life.

Ferrari-458-Italia

The Law of attraction requires us to have strong feelings around what we want to attract and then do everything in our power to bring it about.

As I interviewed more than 400 of the worlds top achievers I saw this formula at work again and again. Each of these top achievers possessed a highly emotional commitment to what they wanted to achieve and then they worked harder, longer, more constantly and consistently than everyone around them to make that goal happen.

If you want to be a success you will have to do the same.

Douglas Vermeeren – The power of your focus

leave a comment »

What you focus on you create. The challenge with most people who are not achieving their goals, creating the changes they really want or not achieving high levels of success can be traced to what they focus on. They may even know what they want on a logic and intellectual level, but the problem is that when things get difficult or even when non-challenging distractions appear they can’t stay focused on what really is important to them. In other words they are in a responsive mode rather than a proactive mode. When we are responsive we focus on what is most pressing, urgent, interesting and new.

Douglas Vermeeren PPM 37When we are proactive we may notice things going on around us, but our focus remains fixed on the important things. Where focus goes energy flows.

Too often those striving to attain success also focus on things they can’t influence. In other words a lot of energy and worry is spent on things beyond your control to influence. It’s like trying to move a brick wall. You are fighting against an obstacle that you cannot overcome. This leads to frustration, complaining, discouragement and pain. In the end you decide not to go for the things you really want because you feel it won’t make any difference anyhow. Where as the real problem was that you were working on problems that you could not solve. In every situation there are elements you can influence and elements that you have no influence over. These elements over which you feel you have no influence over may or may not change in the future. But often they will just because you have changes aspects of the overall equation by dealing first with what you can influence.

One for he most important things you can influence begins with how you see the situation. When you change how you see a situation the situation itself will change. When you focus on what you can influence and recognize how things could change for the better they do.

The challenge with many people is they focus on the fear, pain and frustration of why something isn’t moving forward fast enough. And they get exactly what they choose to see.

Douglas Vermeeren – Focus on What you can DO and the results will surprise you.

leave a comment »

When we focus on what we can do we are proactive. When we focus on things we can’t do or the things we can’t change we are reactive. A reactive state or individual gives the power of choice away. It places the ability to make a situation better outside themselves. By giving this power away the individual becomes dependant on outside influences to determine their destiny.

Douglas Vermeeren ppm 27

When we focus on the things we can change none of our energy is wasted. We begin to take back our power and even the situations which we thought we had no control over will begin to change. As we start working with what we have its almost as though a magical universal power steps in to bring us what we need to get our desire met – even if those things our outside of our influence.

Recently I had an experience that illustrated this. I had a challenge to solve in my business. Much of the challenge was beyond anything I could control. I decided I would do everything in power with everything that I could within my power. A very short time later I received a phone call from someone I hadn’t talked to in months. They had an opportunity to present to me that brought solutions to several of the elements of this challenge beyond my control. It was incredible. I had not reached out to this individual or made them aware of my challenge. The Universe knew and put this person in my path with help.

Start with what you can do and the momentum and commitment of that will bring you the other pieces you need.

In addition often when we begin to confront what the elements we have control over we begin to recognize elements that we may have initially thought were out of our control that actually are in our ability to do something with. Its almost as if we can’t shine a light on these elements until we have started to work with the elements that evident and immediately before us.

In the Movie The Opus, I said “There are no such thin as problems. Everything is a puzzle and there are solutions to puzzles.” If we begin to look at problems and challenges as puzzles they become much more easy to solve.
