Get to Work – Douglas Vermeeren

leave a comment »

In 2006 the most misunderstood personal development movie in the world came out. That’s right I’m talking about The Secret. With the movie appeared a concept many people had never hear of before “The Law of Attraction” became the hot topic of conversations everywhere. While I am a firm believer of the law of attraction it quickly became evidently clear that most people had the wrong idea of what it was and what was required to activate the law.

One of the more memorable experiences that I had was with a friend of mine. After just learning about the Law of Attraction he told me how he was going to test it out by using it to acquire a brand new Ferrari. Long story short, after meditating, hoping and wishing for his Ferrari something happened. I’ll never forget the day he invited me for lunch to show off his Ferrari. As I sat at the table across from him he pulled out the business card for his new assistant whose last name was Ferrari. It had arrived but not in the way he expected.

It was a valuable lesson. we can’t leave what we want out of life to a wish, want, dream or regular thinking. Those things are important. But without the element of work focused on a specific outcome you have very little control over what arrives in your life.

Ferrari-458-Italia

The Law of attraction requires us to have strong feelings around what we want to attract and then do everything in our power to bring it about.

As I interviewed more than 400 of the worlds top achievers I saw this formula at work again and again. Each of these top achievers possessed a highly emotional commitment to what they wanted to achieve and then they worked harder, longer, more constantly and consistently than everyone around them to make that goal happen.

If you want to be a success you will have to do the same.

The Treasure Map Movie unfolds the secrets of wealth

leave a comment »

You may have seen the hit film The Secret or the follow up films produced by Douglas Vermeeren, The Opus and The Gratitude Experiment. But you’ve never seen anything like this. This is the first film dedicated exclusively to teaching about wealth and abundance. “Money is not the root of all evil. It’s actually the seed that let’s you accomplish your dreams,” Revealed director and producer Vermeeren, “Money is the ingredient that closes or opens doors to how far you can achieve what you really want in life.”

While he goes on to suggest that money should not be worshipped or put in the place of family or other high priority items he and his speakers from the film suggest that money allows everything worthwhile and worthy to be more in your life. “Money gives you the freedom to make better choices.” Is a reoccurring theme from the movie.

The Treasure Map

Each of them share insights and strategies on why you should become wealthy and how to do it. The film is one of the more practical approaches available today and is sure to get you thinking differently about your money situation.

If you are looking to escape the prison of debt and financial challenge in todays economy this film should definitely be on your list of MUST SEE movies this year.

What you believe can make you a money magnet!

money on your mind?

What you believe can make you a money magnet!

By Douglas Vermeeren

In 1993, Collin was a young man just out of college when he firsthad the idea. He got it by driving through his community on a saturday afternoon. Everywhere he looked it seemed that people were having garage sales. As he stopped and poked around here and there the idea hit him. At college he had had his first brush with something new called the internet. Everyone he talked to suggested that this new network would change the world. As he wandered through the garage sales the idea came. What about starting a website that would allow people to sell things worldwide? Later that night with the idea still fresh in his mind he flicked on his TV and saw a live car auction. That’s when the idea really caught fire in his mind. What about creating an online auction site where people from around the world could bid on items that people wanted to sell? The idea fascinated Collin and he continued to think more and more about it. The idea seemed wonderful. A week went by, then a month, then a year. You might be thinking that Collin was the founder of what became ebay, but he wasn’t. In fact, Collin never even tried to build his website. When I met Collin is 2009 he told me about this experience and this great idea he had and reminded me that ebay had reported revenues of 7.7 Billion dollars last year. I could tell he wasn’t very happy about that.

I asked him about why he hadn’t tried to do something with his idea when he had it. He was ahead of his time and he most likely would have been extremely successful. He told me the answer came down to one single thing.

He didn’t believe he could do it.

If you’re wondering what the first essential ingredient of becoming a money magnet is… well, that’s it. You have go to believe that you are able to do it. Believe is a powerful thing. Henry ford said it best that whether you believe you can or believe you can’t either way you are right. I know believe sounds like a very elementary thing to start talking about, but in my ten years or so of teaching success and achievement, believe is the #1 thing that keeps people from greatness. It’s not necessarily that people either believe or disbelieve they are capable – it’s that they either don’t really believe they are worthy or ready to receive what they really want or they believe they are entitled to what they want but they don’t understand that you have to do more than just believe. You actually have to do something with the believe.

Let’s talk about both.

First the idea that people don’t always believe that they are worthy or capable of the success they are seeking. Specifically financial success. There is a principle in psychology known as investment bias. Basically what it says is that our minds feel that in order to receive a specific reward there is always a price to be paid. In other words the theory is that you have got to believe that you have invested enough effort, time, energy, resources or whatever it is in order to feel worthy o receive.

While it is true that in order to be a money magnet there are things you will have to do. But there is a slight problem with the theory of investment bias and wealth. People generally have no idea what a sufficient investment should be to be worthy of a specific return. As a result many people continually find themselves feeling more and more unworthy even though they are giving tons and tons of effort, resources, time and energy. How much of a payment is really required? People don’t know so they keep paying and thinking themselves unworthy? If you don’t see value in what you are contributing it is very difficult to be compensated and attract money.

So how do determine if you’ve paid the price? Do you ask someone else? Do you make a chart and record your hours? Do you find someone in your field and gauge your worth by how you feel your efforts measure up to theirs and value yourself in the same monetary way? These are all way that will reenforce your feelings of unworthiness. All of those methods are based on a competitive comparison. History has always demonstrated that comparisons like this will always leave you feeling like you are behind someone else. There is a place for competition, but it does not belong beside your belief in yourself. We’ll talk about where belongs later.

Yourself worth is something that only you can decide. You must decide that you are worth it and that you can be a valuable contributor. When you decide to believe in yourself and recognize that you are worthy to receive you will have activated the first element of creating your money magnet. The way to create more feelings of worth and worthiness is contains in the second part of this discussion on belief.

You’ll remember I said the second thing I encounter often about belief is people who believe they can do it because they feel it with all their heart, but they do nothing about it. It reminds me of the kid that goes onto American Idol thinking he is the next big thing, “I am the next American Idol.” Then he get s up there to sing and yikes, it is disastrous. He has no skills. Believe is never enough if you don’t have the skills. A true believe in oneself means that you become personally engaged in pursuing the thing that you really want. If you want to become a true money magnet you will believe it enough to start learning and doing the things that will make it more likely you can succeed. So how does this tie into the first part about worthiness?

Here’s the deal, remember the idea of Investment Bias. The psychology theory that states we must feel as though we have paid a price before we are entitled to something? Well, if you start believing enough to seek after the skills your feelings of worthiness will grow.

So before we move onto the next principle my challenge to you is Believe enough in yourself to actually do something about it. And my reminder is that until you do believe, and I mean firmly believe you can’t be abundant and wealthy nothing is going to change.

PRESS RELEASE – POWERFUL THINKING POWERFUL RESULTS to be a TV show

Powerful Thinking Powerful Results

Powerful Thinking Powerful Results

Since the late 1990’s Douglas Vermeeren has been conducting the Powerful Thinking Powerful Results seminars through out North America. The program has focused on how thinking an modern neuroscience shape our day to day activities and help us achieve the results and outcomes we want.  This program has made a difference to many professions in the financial planning industry, real estate industries, among sales professionals and more!  This highly sought after program has been recognized for continuing education credits in may fields and has been the subject of many articles and books. But now things are about to get bigger!

Vermeeren’s representatives have just confirmed that an agreement has been reached for Powerful Thinking Powerful results to launch as a TV show on two national networks in the United States and Canada. “The commitment at this stage is for 20 Episodes.”  Stan Romero, press agent for Vermeeren confirmed. “The show will share many of the lessons that Doug has been teaching in the program, but there will also be a lot of new things that no one has seen before.”  The new things he is refer to  have a lot to do with the lessons on the brain and neuroscience involved. “In last decade so much of what we know an understand about the brain and how we process information has changed. This show will provide the most cutting edge research available and share the most current methods to implement it into your life that we can find.”

Douglas Vermeeren, who is also known as the creator of  film The Opus, expressed his excitement at the deal. “I think media is being very under used in the personal development world. These tools can be used to teach in such powerful ways. Not to mention the sizes of the audiences they can reach. It is astounding.” On the surface this may appear true, but why didn’t it work for Tony Robbins. He can fill seminars with thousands of people but his television show, ‘Breakthrough’ on NBC was cancelled after just two episodes. Is the world ready for personal development on TV?

Vermeeren and his team think so. “It’s unfortunate that Tony’s show did not make it. I keep hearing from many people that they liked it and what I saw I also liked. What will make us different? What will help us stick around? We are trying a different model and a different approach, but that may not guarantee us success either. But we’ll do our best and see what happens.”

Currently there are no confirmed dates for the airing of the first episode, but all sources confirm that production has begun. We will post on this story as it develops.

Houdini’s great mind trick was on himself

Harry Houndini' s great mind trick was on himself

Houdini’s great mind trick was on himself

By Douglas Vermeeren

What we believe becomes our reality. An interesting story illustrates this point. Harry Houdini is considered by many to be the world’s greatest escape artist and master magician. Some felt that because of his unique escape talents that he was greatest locksmith that ever lived. He was so confident in his own abilities that wherever he went he delivered the challenge that no lock or restraint could hold him. These challenges even included escaping from formidable jail cells which he did as he travelled through Europe from 1910-1912.

The conditions of the escape were simple. Houdini kept his regular street clothes on, and after being thoroughly search was locked inside the cell with no audience. Within a specified time limit he would free himself. Every time he accepted this challenge he escaped.

But here’s the story of one time that almost resulted in failure…

A small town in Britain invited Houdini to accept a challenge to escape from their jail. This jail cell was the pride of their police force. It was a brand new cell constructed with the most recent technology available. Houdini accepted the invitation and was locked up.

After the room was cleared Houdini took off his jacket and got to work. Hidden in his belt has a flat 10 inch metal tool Houdini had designed to pick locks. He began to work on the lock, but soon he began to realize there was something different about this lock that he had not seen before.

For thirty minutes he worked and worked and got nowhere. He tried everything he could think of to open the lock with no luck. His confidence began to fade and his thoughts shifted to the possibility of defeat.

Time continued to pass. He continued to struggle against the lock. Covered in sweat and  passing the point of exhaustion he collapsed against the door. To his surprise the door gently swung open, revealing that it had never been locked in the first place.

What we believe becomes our reality. Because Houdini had believed the door was locked he fought against it using the knowledge and experience he had gained from previous encounters. His expectations and beliefs limited him rendering him helpless.

What beliefs are currently locking you down from escaping the false prisons that are keeping you from your greatest self?
