Results – Are they really on the way for you?

By Douglas Vermeeren of Personal Power Mastery

There are five areas of life where people try and achieve results. These areas are: Self (meaning in the areas of how they feel about themselves and their inner most desires), Spirituality and their connection to spirit, Health and elements associated wight heir physical nature, Relationships and interactions with others and lastly Abundance which has to do not just with money but includes aspect of their work, business, free time and more.

How many paths are there to achieve a goal?
In my seminars I ask students to select a goal that they’d like to achieve one of these areas. Once you have your goal selected think carefully before you answer this next question. How many paths are there to this goal? In my seminars people share all kinds of numbers as to how many paths they feel there are to accomplish there goal. But the truth is that there is only one actually path but what makes it seem like there could be many paths comes down to the tools that are used to accomplish each step on the path.

No matter what a persons goals are for the results they want in life there is only one path.

Let me illustrate with this example, the path is like a road yet you can choose what vehicle you will drive on the road.

To share what the path and also what that path effects and eventually includes it is also important to first identify that achieving results is not the first step on the path. In fact, it is not the end destination either.

Watch below to see where Results actually fits in. Here’s the path:

Thinking leads to Beliefs to Emotion to Goals & Decisions to Actions to Results

The ripples caused by your original thinking do not end here. As your actions begin to create results in the real world they affect the following:

Your results first effect You then Your Family then Your Immediate Network then Your Community or Tribe then (And this has changed a lot since the invention of the internet) now the World and onward to the Universe.

More later on how you actually affect the Universe. This one will surprise you:

(We will go into greater detail on definitions of these in the future)

Some of the effects of your action are certainly more noticeable than others and some of your actions have more profound effects on those around you than others. But there is a concept called the Butterfly effect which states that all things are effect eventually even by the smallest of actions like a butterfly flapping its wings.

For todays purposes it is important to recognize that this path of getting to results meaning, Thinking to create Beliefs which create Emotions Which cause goals & Decisions which create Actions which produce Results, this is the same for everyone. There wis only one way to create results and this is it. Even if the results you are creating happen as part of a team or delegation the early steps from thought to decision are still included. There is only one way.
Where people get the idea that there are different ways is that there are definitely differences in thoughts , beliefs, emotions, goals and actions that produce those results. If we were to look again at the analogy of road being the path. The differences of how a person moves along that path could be compared to the mode of transportation. Some people are walking and very slowly I might add, others are driving a high powered sports car.

As you grow more successful in your ability to drive this path you graduate to faster and more effective vehicles. As you are more creative in your approach and do things that others won’t, can’t or don’t think of the vehicle you select also improves. As you enlist the help of others in your journey your vehicle also improves and so does the quality of the ride.

What you say can ruin your day – Bam #8

Words have power beyond what most people realize. They have the ability to help us shape our world in both positive and negative ways. If you think carefully about words and what they represent it is is now surprise that they have so much power.

Words are the way we communicate ideas with each other and with ourselves. Words are essentially assigned expressions that represent ideas or describe experiences from our thoughts. In addition, to describing what we are thinking they also have great power to lead our thinking. Words expressed often enough can also become beliefs. Beliefs influence our actions or inaction. If you really explore the way words are linked to our ability to success the power they have is truly overwhelming and should not be under estimated.

I’d like to start with what we say to each other. It doesn’t take much investigation to remember moments when the words of another have lifted and inspired you to become better and take action. The other side of the coin is also true. The words people say may often hurt and paralyze us. Words often strengthen or weaken and destroy relationships. Sometimes the words said to us (either positive or negative)stay with us for a long time and shape how we feel about ourselves and our abilities. Indeed, it is true to say that simple words can shape the entire course of our life.

More important that what other people say to us is what we say to ourselves. There is an ancient saying attributed to the Samurai which says that, “When we conquer the enemy within, no enemy from without can destroy us.” While it is true that others may encourage or discourage us their words have limited power until we decide to repeat them to ourselves with certainty.

The more often we repeat words to ourself the more solidly fixed they become in our mind. As we partner those words with evidence or experiences that support those ideas in our mind the more those ideas become beliefs. Once the beliefs become stronger in our mind they influence our actions which in turn dictate our outcomes and results. Naturally the stronger the belief becomes the more significant and major actions we are willing to take.

My challenge to you today is to carefully observe your language and notice carefully when you use words or phrases that are not in line with your goals. Recognize also the negative talk from others and decide that you will not give it credibility to take root in your thoughts. Everything you think about long enough will eventually appear in reality. So choose carefully what you will tell yourself and what you will listen to from others. (And there is a significant difference between hearing and listening too.)

Lead an awesome life: An Awesome life is living your life by decision. You are where you want to be, doing the things that excite you, inspire you and bring out the best in you and in those around you.

Can a single word create Greater Success?

Can you keep the secret of success a secret?

Can you keep the secret of success a secret?

By Douglas Vermeeren

Our words are one of the most powerful tools we have to convey our wants, desires, motives, intentions and expectations. Our words are more powerful than we give them credit for. Our words are responsible for much of our thought construction.

Rudyard Kipling, Author of the famous book, “The Jungle Book” once said, “Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.” When we think of the word drug we think of a substance that is used to alter states and create certain feelings within the body. When we approach the definition of drug in that way, words certainly qualify.

They can inspire us, cause us to feel loved, bring out the best in our actions and help us discover parts of ourselves we never knew we had. They can also create an opposite effect that limits us as well.

You’ve probably heard that what we talk about comes about. When we are engaged in conversations with others the words they use can tell us what  to expect and what another person is feeling inside.

Our words and the language that we use are symbolic representations of things or ideas in the tangible real world. When we think on these words or use them in our speech they activate specific areas in our brain that creates recall or recognition of the symbols those words represent. Based on our past experience with the specific thing or activity the word represents energies or charges are activated, or rather conditioned to activate when we interact with the word symbol.

These charges will either be positive or negative. (Not electrical necessarily – but of an emotional quality, either positive or negative.)This makes some words empowering to us and other words cause us to doubt, become fearful and even become offended when they are emotionally activated. When we attempt to process our thoughts in such an emotionally charged environment they are affected. (More on this phenomenon called, ‘Affect Illusion’ another time.) Depending on the emotion environment the thoughts nurtured in will often determine the end results they will produce.

Positive thoughts which increase our belief in ourselves immediately allow us to expand in our view and look for greater possibilities. On the other hand thoughts which limit us, make us afraid or cause us to doubt constrict our thoughts.

Our brain are wired to solve problems or escape danger. Even simple words which activate the state of fear, doubt, threat or containment requires our brain to seek a way to protect ourselves or escape. This survival instinct causes us to focus on that negative  energy until the energy dissipates, we escape or it is replaced by something more powerful.

An Experiment on the Energy of Words

Read the following two lists of words below for an experiment. Read them out loud. Read slowly and pay careful attention to the first images that come into your mind and how they make you feel. Let your brain find an image that corresponds to each word. Make the image vivid enough to feel the emotions your brain attaches them to. As you feel this energy ask: Are the words positive and empowering or do they cause negative emotions within you and cause you to feel contracted? Here’s the list:

Disgusting

Tragedy

Dirty

Vomit

Sorrow

Carnage

Pain

Fall

Regret

Wounded

Stench

Fail

Broken

Rude

Liar

Cruel

Did you feel a negative energy begin to circulate within your thoughts as your brain sought for recall or recognition of the symbol the word represented?

Let’s try another list of words, this time more positive.

Again remember to let your brain seek for the  images in your mind that you associate with these words. Make these images vivid, bright and real. Feel after the the emotions these images begin to plant within you. Read them slowly and out load. Here’s teh second list:

Joy

Love

Precious

Kind

Unstoppable

Caring

Hopeful

Expanding

Tranquil

Affection

Delicious

Clear

Harmonious

Strengthening

Comfort

Generosity

Friendship

What was the difference in the emotion, images, thoughts and feelings that these words created within you?

The energy that positive words ignite is undeniable and they have a profound effect on our thinking and behavior.

This isn’t really anything new, the earliest recordings of someone utilizing ‘The Power of Suggestion’ or words as Psychosomatic medicine date back to 934 AD.  The principles are explained by simply recognizing the mind is influenced by the words it hears, reads and considers.  Modern psychosomatic medicine regularly uses linguistic suggestion to create positive results in patients. What we suggest to the mind (most often by words) causes the mind to construct the reality internally and externally. The entire efforts of hypnotism rests on the power of suggestion.

In more modern times other systems have been developed to expand our view on the relationship between cognition, behavior, tangible result and our words and language. NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) developed in the 1970’s  by Richard Bandler and John Grinder established connections between our neurology, our language and our behavior patterns.

Through understanding these principles and several new other discoveries I have personally developed systems that are producing great results for people. Strategic Cognitive Construction (SCC) and The Ripple Effect are two specifically which accelerate the process of creating tangible realities from the things we think about using the power of linguistics.*

Through all these discoveries one thing becomes very clear.  Our words and language do play a significant role in our thinking processes.  To create great successes in our lives we need to harness the power of being more careful with the words we are using and accepting as truth when we consider our dreams.
