Lessons from a high level network

Reasons why Building a network is the HIGHEST VALUE SKILL you can develop.

By Douglas Vermeeren, The Modern Day Napoleon Hill

Douglas Vermeeren - Modern Day Napoleon HIll

Why is the most valuable skill you can generate? It will be the one that opens the most doors of opportunity, gives you the most benefit and support and naturally creates the most income. Over the years I have been able to study more than 400 of the worlds top achievers much like what Napoleon Hill had done to write the landmark book Think and Grow Rich. While engaged in this research there were two powerful things that occurred. One of these things was an observation and the other was a result.

The observation was that EVERY single top achiever that I met with attained their success because of who they surrounded themselves with. The old adage Your Network equals your Net Work is unquestionably true. Associations at high level opened up opportunities not available to the general public. High level networks gave access to support, systems, clients and more high level introductions. Without a powerful network you are limited to your personal efforts and your connections are limited.

Nearly all results in life come through our interactions with others. If you have a low level of network you will have a low level of results.

The results I experienced were first hand success and wealth. Obviously success is not a destination but an ongoing series of experiences. As I began to level up my connections my results have continued to rise. Those that entered my network helped me, mentored me, opened my eyes to possibilities I had never experienced or considered. My network literally taught me what success could look like. Perspective is a powerful thing and generally eh result of who you spend the most time with. We are all teaching and influencing each other. If you surrounding yourself with inadequate teachers and influences you will live far below your potential.

Below are some of the most important lessons I have learned from having a high level network.

The #1 Habit and skill of the rich is high level networking.

Your network determines your net worth. But first you must decide what is of worth to you and what you value most.

Networking is not about simply making a sale it is about creating relationships that make selling easier.

Your network is a safety net that allows you to solve bigger problems.

Your network will determine your quality of life more than any other factor.

All wealth comes from your ability o connect with other people.

Social capital is the most important asset a company or individual can build in todays marketplace.

Your highest value skill will be your ability to connect with people who can help you get what you want.

Access is the most highly sought after opportunity today.

Your rolodex is your greatest asset.

It is better to have 100 friends than 1000 rubles. Russian Proverb

We become the combination of the 5 people we spend the most time with.

We rise to the level of the things we allow to influence us.

The people you have in your network determine the opportunities that you have access to.

People help their friends most.

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

Everything you want is only a relationship away.

The pre-internet concept of six degrees of separation is now obsolete. You are now closer to everyone you want to connect with than every before.

All high level success is created by a team, not an individual.

How well are you known in the network that matters.

True networking is rarely done. It’s not about exchanging business cards or meeting for coffee. It is creating synergistic long term connections that create powerful outcomes for all involved.

The highest connections  come because what you are doing has meaning.

Curiosity is at the foundation of connection.

If you are the smartest person in the room you are in the wrong room.

Business success is a CONTACT sport.

Connection is a result of shared emotional experiences. Nothing bonds better.

A circle of influence is never created by accident.

Good networks don’t build themselves.

You’ll never do a $1 Million dollar deal at a $10 breakfast.

Be so on-purpose that people want you in their network.

Decide in advance what you want from your connections.

Networking is rarely about attending a networking event.

First impressions can determine your final outcomes.

Entrepreneur of Influence and Effective meetings

Entrepreneur of Influence and effective meetings

By Douglas Vermeeren

Meeting are required for operating an effective meeting. Some of these meeting swill be with potential clients, hiring people to help and support your business, potential partnerships and joint ventures and to train your staff to implement new strategies and take over jobs you need to delegate. Whatever the purpose of the meetings they need to be effective if your business is going to thrive.

For those of you familiar with our Entrepreneur Influence program you will know that I had the chance to observe and learn first hand from more than 400 of the worlds top achievers. Some of the companies whose leaders I was privileged to learn from included FedEx, nike, Fruit of the Loom, Uber, UGG boots, Disney, JW Marriott and others. In this relationship of learning I was able to observe how they prepared for and participated in meetings.

The following suggestions will help you to make your meeting more effective and valuable for you:

1) All meetings should have a clear outlined purpose. One of the top achievers that learned from stated it this way, “We don’t attend meetings without a purpose and we don’t attend unprepared.” Speaking to the point of purpose first, all meetings must have an objective. I see many entrepreneurs who will accept and participate in nearly any meeting that any one wants to have. This included meetings with a client. Many small business owners and entrepreneurs take meetings too easily and too quickly. They meet with anyone who could be a potential client or relationship without qualifying that individual and without determining a purpose for the meeting.

Everyone in the meeting should be aware of and in harmony with the purpose. The more all involved are moving in the same direction and with the same conviction the more powerful and effective your meetings will be.

If you come to the meeting in a careless and casual way your results will be the same way.

You can’t create results without creating a purpose.

2) All meetings should be timely — What I mean by this is that all meetings should be at the right time and have a time limit. Firstly, what I mean by the right time is that meetings should be in their proper sequence and when those in the meeting are in a position to act on things. Part of this can be described as qualifying. For example, you wouldn’t meeting with a customer who is not ready to make a decision. But I also see many entrepreneurs who meet with potential services even though they are not yet in a position to hire those services. They claim they are just doing research. Why would you research services in an ever changing marketplace if you are not ready to act. Research when you are ready. Have meetings when you are ready to take action.

Another important consideration is to take the appropriate time to have your meeting. As I interviewed the worlds top business achievers I had one of these leaders teach me this lesson in a unique way. When I first approached him I asked if I could have fifteen minutes of his time. I believed that asking for less time would make it more likely that he would say yes to meet with me.

I was surprised that when I showed up for our meeting he placed a stop watch on the table and indicated he would measure our fifteen minutes. Thankfully I was prepared and the timing worked. After the conclusion of our fifteen minutes this individual thanked me for being on time and commented that I had earned his respect to be able to qualify for future meetings.

In a future meeting we talked about time. He pointed out something very interesting to me. He observed that most people when they meet with a client or group meeting they feel a need to have it be at least an hour. He further pointed out that this was a pattern we grew accustomed to through our time in school,. The teacher told us it took one hour to learn math or social studies and so therefore that’s what we think it takes. And now when we meet with people we automatically assume it takes the same. When people plan on meeting for an hour they fill up an hour.

He then asked me to think back over our fifteen minute meetings and point out how much more we had been able to get accomplished because we were focused.

In all our business activities we are training people how to treat us and respond to our business and brand. How you use your time in meetings is a powerful teacher.

3)All effective meetings require preparation — Determine ahead of time what you would like your outcomes to be, your objectives, your questions and what you would like to have taught. Make sure you consider all possible questions and difficulties. As I observed and worked with the top business leaders mentioned about I found it interesting that their meetings were rarely brainstorming sessions to consider questions that they were paying other people to come up with solutions for. Most of the time these meetings were session where people presented their findings and answers they had already prepared and thought about.

As we work with top entrepreneurs and train them for success we encourage the same patterns. When you meet with a client you should have already considered their questions, challenges and objections. You should have answers to these that make sense. This is what will position you as the expert. No one wants to hire a brainstorming partner. They all want resources they can trust and benefit from. The more you can demonstrate competence in your relationship the more trust and confidence you will earn.

In addition, when it is time to meet with someone for the purposes of hiring, partnering or joint venturing the more clarity you have around what you need and can offer and how you will support and train that individual the more likely success is in the end.

While there is more more that could be said about meetings these are three of the most important things to get you started. Remember never take a meeting unless it has the potential to reward you for your time and effort and move your business forward.

Learn from the best in the best way – Personal Power Mastery by Douglas Vermeeren

douglas Vermeeren Personal Power Mastery Success quote 113

Imagine if there was a million dollars in a brief case for you on the other side of a field. The money is all yours all you have to do is go and pick it up. There is however one catch the field is filled with landmines and you don’t know where they are. Crossing this field will be a very challenging not to mention potentially explosive obstacle.

However you have a few options to get across.

Option 1 – Run like heck an hope you make it okay.
Option 2 – Read a book about it and take it slowly and cautiously on your own.
Option 3 – Have someone who has navigated the field once before tell you what to do from the sidelines.
Option 4 – Have someone who has successfully navigated the field multiple times walk with you and point out the potential dangers and challenges.

Which one would you pick?

When it’ appears in the context its pretty obvious which choice is the one you should select to complete the objective of crossing the field. But when it comes to practice in real life you’d be surprised how many choose the first option of simply “winging it” and making a run for it.

Let me share a little about each of these and then make a case why the final one is the best option in real life too.

Option 1 – Run like heck and hope you make it. This is the way most people approach getting to their goals in real life. Whether its in their career pursuits, building a business, flipping a house, becoming a professional athlete or even a rock star. When it comes to achieving their goals most people try to do it solo without support. They rush in whatever direction with whatever activities they think will help them make progress. This is also known as the school of hard knocks. This can be painful, expensive and time consuming. The are the people that think reading, seminars, coaches, mentors and that kind of thing is a waste of time. They often will say things like, “You’ve got to pay your dues.” and “There’s no substitute for hard work.” Most of the time they never achieve anything great and often never get close to their goals.

Option 2 – Read a book about it and take it slowly and cautiously on your own. – I hope I can share this one in a way that makes sense. I am an avid reader and a strong defender of reading and books. But if we are honest there are some limitations. Many people feel that simply reading a book on a subject makes you an expert. I see this ALL the time with other speakers in my career. they read a book about someone else success and suddenly feel they are qualified to teach others about success. (What a disservice to those they claim to serve. They can’t help others because they aren’t even willing to recognize their own limitations.) While reading a book will give you power there are still limitations. One of the challenges with this option in real life (and this happens with just attending seminars too) is that you learn just enough to make you dangerous so to speak. In other words you will get the information to make you started but what happens if you run up against a situation the book doesn’t cover or the seminar didn’t teach you about? What will you do? You will be stuck until you can get help.

The second part of this is taking it slow and cautiously. And we see this reflected in many people in real life. They slow their progress down to make certain that they have all of the answers they need before they take action. Hopefully that’s not you. But if it is let’s clarify one thing even with the top mentors speaking to you hourly you will still not have all the answers. It is just not possible. You will have to walk by faith if you are going to claim the prize.

No in finishing this option I want to emphatically state that I AM NOT AGAINST READING. I am against reading by itself. To be most effective it needs to be a component of a stronger strategy which we will talk about in a moment.

Option 3 – Have someone who has navigated the field once before tell you what to do from the sidelines. This option is getting better because you have the ability to rely on the experience of someone else who has completed the task. But as this article is entitled, “Learn from the best in the best way” I have to point out that while this is the best option so far there are still limitations. Someone observing you from the sidelines is often not aware of the specific details you are facing and they aren’t always seeing things as you see them in the field. They may not always give you the best advice because they don’t always know you and your particular situation in close up detail. It kind of reminds me of the encouragement that we often hear repeated, “Take a millionaire to lunch.” We’ll on the surface that’s a great idea, but in reality its going to take more than a lunch to get yourself truly on track to make your own million.

Option 4 – Have someone who has successfully navigated the field multiple times walk with you and point out the potential dangers and challenges. This final option is the best. Essentially it is having someone who has successfully accomplished what you are intending to do work with you directly to help you successfully arrive at the same conclusion. Often times this can cost more money than the other options up front but in the end it is actually the least expensive and most productive. In many cases as I have observed attendees to our seminars over the years this is also the option that actually gets the most results. Too often people come through our doors that have been trying the other options for years – but suddenly when they get the courage to actually get someone personally involved in helping them everything finally comes together.

Naturally Using a combination of all of these things will provide value as well so don’t neglect any learning opportunity that will support you on your mission.

There is one last things that I want to share that is important to recognize when it comes to learning and perhaps this is the concept that is closest to the title of this article. “Learn from the best in the best way.” Not all mentors, teachers, coaches, books, seminars youtube videos and learning tools are created equal. The lessons from some “Gurus” Will actually take you backwards and cost you time and money instead of helping you fulfill your purposes. Yes, you can learn from everyone and sometimes those lessons can be the wrong way to do something.

Life is short and your time is limited. Seek out the very best people to learn from and make the commitment to appreciate yourself enough to select the support that will ultimately serve you best.

Challenge: Get out there today and seek out in person mentors and support to help you get to your goals.

I do lots of stuff wrong – Douglas Vermeeren

leave a comment »

I do lots of stuff wrong. And so do lots of other top achievers. If you haven’t done lots wrong its because you haven’t done much of anything. One thing is for sure that its very easy to do stuff wrong. It doesn’t take any special skill or aptitude. Its one of the most easy things in the world to do. And the funniest part of mistakes is that they arrive whether you intend them to  or not. Those who make the most and the biggest mistakes are never aiming for that. Often we have the best intentions and are really wanting to help and bless others, but sometimes things go wrong. It is safe to avoid all of this. Sometimes we don’t need the attention our mistakes make. But here’s the deal folks. If you really are committed to doing big things there will be big mistakes. Don’t focus on those though. Perfection isn’t the goal – Progress is.

douglas-vermeeren-power-quote-13A hundred years from now haters don’t matter and time often forgives mistakes. A friend told me the other day something remarkable he had noticed and I had to agree with him. Anyone doing great things will never criticize another person making mistakes. They are above that and they understand how essential those challenges are to creating success.

Things will go wrong in business, relationships, finances, friendships and more! Communications may cross. Expectations may be understood. But if you are going to create you can’t stay focused on that for long. Fix what you can and move on. Try to avoid making the mistakes but recognize they will happen.

As I interviewed more than 400 of the worlds top achievers I quickly saw that all of these people had made mistakes. Some of them were involved in law suits, allegations of poor judgement, some had divorces in their past, others had bankruptcies. But they didn’t focus on that.

And what was really funny (and I have experienced this too) is that as soon as success began to arrive those who had earlier criticized them asked for help or favors.

I also found it funny that right after I put out my first movie The Opus haters came out from every direction.I was sitting with a friend from the recording industry shortly thereafter and he expressed that he had seen this a million times with recording artists. The minute they had a success everyone hated them. (What’s with humans anyways?) well, he told me something that has always stayed with me. No matter what anyone says now they can’t take away the fact that I made a movie. Haters can’t take away accomplishments.  Pretty profound.

So here’s the lesson – Do you best! But when the imperfections arrive don’t get stuck on them. Keep moving towards your goals!

The Speaking Business Multiplier – 3 Tips to think about developing content – Douglas Vermeeren

leave a comment »

While you’d think that content and acquiring content would at the top of the priority list for people wanting to be considered experts in the field of speaking, coaching and training – it isn’t always. Over the last several decades I have been involved in the personal development business I’ve seen many who just don’t feel that constant preparation, improvement or education is that important. I regularly see speakers who prepare a speech only after they have an event booked and I’ve also seen others who prepared one speech a long time ago and every time (even to the same audience) bring out that same speech. This is a short cut. And although it may be the easy way it will never open up the doors for you to be considered an expert or a person with solutions of any depth.

I suppose it’s very similar to the one hit wonders of the music business. Or better yet like a  pianist with only one key to play. LAME.

Here are 3 thoughts to think about when preparing your content that will help you to position yourself as an expert, be prepared for any event you are called upon without notice (And this happens often for higher level speakers) and lastly, to become profitable as a speaker.

reading

  1. Read, research, watch, listen and learn every single day. I would even suggest multiple times a day. The flow of ideas into your mins on the subject you speak about needs to be constant. Almost to the point of overflow. As it overflows in your mind it will fill the minds of those you present to. In their minds you will be the well from which they know they can gain the answer. The only way that you can become that is if you first fill your mind. An old hindu saying says it best: An empty vessel can fill no other cup. Obviously it goes without saying that from the beginning I hope you have chosen a subject that you are excited about. If you are truly excited about this subject matter you’ll find that this quest for content isn’t a burden but an exciting opportunity. And I should mention if you aren’t cited about your subject it will be very difficult to get others excited about it. 452830868_0f1406ba87_b
  2. Record and sort it as though you were to teach it. When we learn with purpose we retain and record things in a more powerful way than if we to simply read something. I invite all of my students to record the content they are researching as though they had to teach it. As they look at how their research can help and bless the lives of their students they have all found amazing results. One of the most powerful being is that have immediately started to recognize what has been most valuable and practical in their research. They have been able to recognize where in their presentations these new findings have been able to fit. They have also noticed that their level of expertise has risen among their audiences. It really does become clear which speakers are consistently learning and which are just coasting. Naturally as you learn to teach your students will also feel who really cares.online_keyboard_news
  3. Look for ways to share what you are learning outside of your presentation. More and more I am seeing a massive shift in the personal development and speaking industry. No longer are people able to maintain a career simply as “a keynoter.” In order to thrive in this business it is necessary to expand to other platforms and areas such as coaching, mentoring, masterminds, products and an array of other platforms. One of the other necessities is a social media presence. Daily communication to your tribe or community is becoming more and more of an expectation. And the more your visibility and stature in the industry rise the more it is expected of you. Your daily content quests are a great way to find and prepare information to share. It needn’t be long but it definitely needs to be consistent.

When experience success it is a time for congratulations! Maybe even time for a celebration. But success is a time for one more important element! And that is to keep going.

douglas-vermeeren-ppm-59

Everyone experiences success from time to time. One could even say that it was luck. But when you keep going after the success and work according to strategy that when things really begin to happen in positive ways.

Interestingly enough not everything is going o work out but that’s the time to keep going even more. In fact, things that don’t always work out really successfully but are still done according to a predesigned strategy still make more success than a single win. Focus on moving closer to your goals rather than creating success.

Why laugh at the learning curve? Douglas Vermeeren

leave a comment »

Today I am in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I will be speaking at an event later today. As I think about some of the things that I could say that would be most useful to the participants who are coming I think about their needs. Many of them are entrepreneurs, some of them are speakers and life coaches, some have home based businesses, there will be network marketers, there will even be students and some people who are either not employed or looking at starting a business.

As I have been sitting here eating my oatmeal and thinking about what would be most valuable to them I let my mind wander past all the experiences I have had that would be valuable to them. I think of some of the people I’ve met and the lessons they have taught me. For some reason my mind stopped on a one person, I’m going to call her Susan. (Not her real name but close.)

Susan wanted to be a speaker. She didn’t have a lot of experience yet so there were a lot of rough edges. But she had a lot of desire. Every time we talked she would take lot sod notes on what she could do. She observed every other speaker she could find and I could tell she was excited and fuelled to get to that next level. Soon she had her chance to get in front of a few groups. Just like when I started the groups were small. (My first speaking event I had 3 people show up.)

I attended her first event and there was about 12. Her second one that I attended had 7. And I am told her third was about the same. Her speech was valuable but not polished.

She was frustrated not with herself but with the numbers who came. She thought that she was ready and the world should have responded. She let those experiences effect her. And rather than laugh at the learning curve she projected the lack of people at those that were helping her. They should have helped her better. They should have filled the room. They gave her false expectations and hope. She fired her mentors. Ultimately you guessed it she shifted from being a speaker to something else where she continues to take the learning curve too seriously.

You may have guessed by now that this is a pattern she had experienced before. A repeated challenge that is destined to repeat again. She had amazing potential but failed to recognize that there is a learning curve, a progress curve and that all development takes time.

douglas-vermeeren-ppm-58

frank_maguire_sc_photoFrank is another person I thought about this morning.  He knew how to laugh at the learning curve and as a result he went on to create some pretty amazing things in his life. Whenever a failure or setback or experience was less than he wanted he dug in deeper and recognized it as a temporary station. He did not let the setback or situation define him or put him off track from his dreams and desires. One such business failure he was involved in lost millions and millions of dollars every month for close to 36 months. Yet he knew the idea would work and together with his partners they hung in there. That company today is known as FedEx.

Frank Maguire became one of my personal mentors. Almost like a grandpa to me. He taught me again and again that it is important to expect the learning curve and although he didn’t use these words he implied that you should laugh at it. When you failed or things didn’t flow like they should put on a smile and laugh at your mistakes. Don’t take failure personally or too seriously. It’s gonna happen. And its never as bad as you think its going to be.

Even the best laid plans have challenges and bumps. But more important that the plan is the person behind it. Are you a leader or a limper? To you whine when things don’t flow like you expect or do you accept it and make adjusts to improve each time.

The amazing thing about learning curves that I have learned is that it is in the shape of a J. Success follows and comes in this shape. After you get past the low rolling curve at the bottom of the letter goes straight up. Had Susan recognized where she was on the curve she would have understood that there is always a period of time to pay your dues on the curve. Once that’s through success comes in a very big way. Most people are like Susan and when things don’t flow immediately and powerfully they abandon ship.

They never give themselves a chance to succeed because they never get past the inevitable learning curve.

rocky-1

Don’t make the same mistake. Get committed! Decide that you will hang in there. Go the distance. Be like Rocky and even tough things are tough you keep going. Take the punch and stay standing. You can do it. And it you hang on long enough you will always win.

th-1Howard Putnam former CEO of Southwest airlines once told me that the key to success in his life has always been to keep going when the other stops. It’s not a matter of being smarter, or better looking, or better connected or luckier. It’s mostly a matter of hanging in there especially when it gets hard.

So to conclude today. I just want to say go for it. This is your time!

Now is your time – Make it count!

Are you worthy of success? Douglas Vermeeren

leave a comment »

Are you worth of Success By Douglas Vermeeren, Creator Of Personal Power Mastery

As I have taught the Personal Power Mastery seminars and other trainings over the last 10 years a common, but surprising question that appears often again and again revolves around worthiness. Many people struggle with the idea of worthiness and personal value. Often the question has to do with something they either did or failed to do in their past. But more often it is tried to things that others around them (Especially loved ones) have told them about their worth or potential.

douglas-vermeeren-ppm-57

Most often the now disabled person has been told that success, wealth, good relationships, positive situations or whatever else they are trying to achieve is not realistic for them. They are somehow different or broken when it comes to creating these outcomes in comparison to other people.

These feelings have often grown within them until they have very conflicting ideas about what they want out of life and what they are truly capable of achieving. They begin to believe the idea that they are somehow something less than everyone else.

Naturally these feelings of doubt, fear and unworthiness are paralyzing. They rob the individual of the ability to work on their most important dreams and goals. Most often they end up in a prison of pain. When you don’t believe you are worth the best things you tolerate and except the less than great. Which often means accepting more pain and frustrating situations and people because that is where you feel accepted and belong.

This is not true. You deserve better and are entitled to better. You are worthy.

The definition of the word worthiness means to have sufficient merit.  Sufficient merit to do what? Success is earned but not in the way most people think.

To attain success you do not appear before a standards board that evaluates your application. There is no one in the “success club” that must approve your membership or welcome you into the group.

To create success requires that you simply work hard and follow a certain set of rules (law of the harvest) which will produce certain results. (We will talk more about these rules in the future. for a quick preview look at my book Guerrilla Achiever.)  But these rules work when you get to work and take action. The rules don’t ask if you are afraid when you act. They don’t judge your past when you act. They don’t ask what others said to you or about you when you act. The only thing that they are concerned about is that when you are acting you are rolling those rules of success.

If you can do that you have all the worthiness that you need.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

YOU ARE WORTHY NOW!

The wonderful thing about the journey to success is that your current feelings about yourself change the instant you gain a little momentum. In other words if you feel unworthy just get started. That movement will open your eyes to the true possibilities of who you may become and light will enter into your life and destroy the darkness of self-worry. JUST GET STARTED!

A second aspect of feeling worthy is also worth pointing out. It might be time for a friend or connection upgrade. We often takes our cues of what we are capable of by those we spend the most time with. We often believe the advice of those around us because we look for validation from our peers. Because of that we are not just living in our own comfort zones and with our own fears, but we are operating within the shadow of the comfort zone and fears of those we spend the most time with.  In other words who you spend time with is truly shaping your destiny. If who you are spending time with is limiting you – LEVEL UP!

Much of this will affect our feelings of worthiness immediately.

A caution to single people. You may think you are just fine hanging out by yourself or online in social media and that you don’t have any negative interactions with real people so the feelings of unworthiness or lack of high motivation isn’t attached to others. Actually it maybe. Studies have shown that isolation is also a contributor to depression, feelings of unworthiness or complacency. find good people to start surrounding yourself with and get out there.

Now is your time – Make it count!

Don’t get discouraged

By Douglas Vermeeren

Things can go wrong. Things can go really wrong although you had good or even great intentions. Obstacles arise that you hadn’t planned for. People change their minds or sometimes lie to get their way. Your efforts don’t always produce the results you expected. feelings get hurt unintentionally or things you say or are said to you can misunderstood.  Sometimes even the weather won’t cooperate. And we can get discouraged when things like this happen. When we are discouraged its very difficult to perform at our best and see situations and opportunities clearly. we tend to paint everything with a cynical or less than enthusiastic point of view.

Things don’t always go perfect. Or do they?

Often we are quick to judge whether an event or situation is positive or negative. What makes an even positive or negative? Most people would say the results or the way it makes me feel. This definition can be a little misleading. The problem with the hastiness of this definition is that it instantly has an effect of how we perform and what we are willing to believe. It immediately changes our desires and dedication to what we may be trying to do.

The truth of the matter is in handiness nearly everyone I have ever met have admitted that sometimes they are very grateful that certain things did not work out. They often are excited for the fact that because something didn’t work out they were able to discover better opportunities and situations waiting for them just ahead. So then was the negative experience really a negative experience or was it the seeds of a more positive opportunity just ahead?

This is why whenever something challenges comes along we need to do our best to deal with the matter at hand but recognize that this event may be the cataylst to unlock the more positive experience just a short distance away. When we get discouraged we shut off many possibilities.

Now I want to clarify I’m not saying its not okay to feel hurt, frustrated, maybe even angry at times. Those are natural human emotions and you will experience them. What I am saying is don’t get discouraged. What discouragement is defined as is the removal of the courage to move forward. DON’T DO IT.  Get mad, get angry, be hurt – just don’t quit.

Students at Personal Power Mastery have expressed at times how had they quit they would never have found the perfect job. started the business that made them wealthy, found their soul mate and in one case I am aware of beat a terminal illness.

Life is not easy. That much I agree with.

But it is easier for those don’t get discouraged. When you move forward with hope things get more hopeful.

It is time to recognize that it is not our business to declare what a negative situation is. Because they seldom turn out that way in the long run. Now is your time – Make it count!
