Success comes from Habits – Bam #13

Success comes form habits
By Douglas Vermeeren

habits-wordle1

There are many people around us each day who have accomplished a high level of success. We sometimes see them on tv or read about them in best selling books. When we see these people it is not uncommon for us to feel a sense of awe and literally explain “wow!” Often times we may be tempted to look at these individuals and think that they are lucky or somehow endowed with some unique magical attributes that have brought success to them.

By creating this idea that there are skills unique to these individuals it gives us an escape route or rather an exit to be able to excuse ourselves from attempting and accomplishing the same levels of success. While there are certainly unique skills at a high level of success the truth is that they did not arrive in a magical way.

In addition, most of these people were just like you and I at the beginning. They just added one ingredient that made those skills stronger, better and powerful. That one ingredient is to turn the actions they knew they needed to accomplish their desired success into habit.

habit

Habit is the key to creating lasting success. We literally become what we repeatedly think about and do.

make-our-habits

But the answer is not that simple. Developing habits takes hard work, dedication, consistent effort, refining, recommitting when things don’t go well, and staying on track especially when things go right.

Developing the right habits can also be an elusive journey. Once you know what you want to develop as a success in your life how can you determine which habits you need to develop. The Chinese philosopher Confucius declared that the very best way to develop wisdom is to imitate. In modern parlance we call this modelling. If you wish to create success in a specific area you need to find role models who have accomplished success in the same area and duplicate their habits. Developing habits therefore begins with intense study to identify the habits that you will need to create the same success.

Often I encounter people who pick and choose elements of those habits that they will duplicate and other things that the decide are not needed. Maybe the things that they reject they fell are too hard or inconvenient. Maybe they feel like some of those habits will be too difficult to implement or take too much time to develop. What they experience in the end is only partial success. When you pick and choose and decide to do only that which is easy you get less than the result of your mentors.

Imagine if you wanted to be a heart surgeon and you decided to only attend half the classes. In doing so you would rob yourself of the lessons you would need from the entire experience. When developing the habits of success you cannot pick and choose. You have got to become engaged and immersed.

habits

Developing new habits is hard work. Anytime change is required the commitment that comes with those changes is massive. It requires you to literally be obsessed with the new destination. You have got to establish a strong WHY. That WHY must be bold and emotionally charged. We only stay engaged with the activities that have significant meaning to us. Especially when the going gets hard. When you have a powerful and emotionally charged why it is more likely that you will stay on track and continue to practice the habits that will lead you to success.

There is a statement attributed to Michaelangelo. He allegedly said to someone complimenting him as a master, “It you knew how hard I had to work you wouldn’t call me a master.” Whether the event actually happened or the statement is true I can’t say. But what I have noticed as I have worked with top achievers around the world is that the statement is true. Every master started as a disaster. To get to high performance levels much hard work is required.

My challenge to you is to identify several new habits you need to develop in order to start moving towards your most significant goals. Push forward and recognize that habits are also developed in much the same way as turning on a dimmer switch. You aren’t going to get it right all at once but it will get better and better with hard work and dedication! Get started now!

Results – Are they really on the way for you?

By Douglas Vermeeren of Personal Power Mastery

There are five areas of life where people try and achieve results. These areas are: Self (meaning in the areas of how they feel about themselves and their inner most desires), Spirituality and their connection to spirit, Health and elements associated wight heir physical nature, Relationships and interactions with others and lastly Abundance which has to do not just with money but includes aspect of their work, business, free time and more.

How many paths are there to achieve a goal?
In my seminars I ask students to select a goal that they’d like to achieve one of these areas. Once you have your goal selected think carefully before you answer this next question. How many paths are there to this goal? In my seminars people share all kinds of numbers as to how many paths they feel there are to accomplish there goal. But the truth is that there is only one actually path but what makes it seem like there could be many paths comes down to the tools that are used to accomplish each step on the path.

No matter what a persons goals are for the results they want in life there is only one path.

Let me illustrate with this example, the path is like a road yet you can choose what vehicle you will drive on the road.

To share what the path and also what that path effects and eventually includes it is also important to first identify that achieving results is not the first step on the path. In fact, it is not the end destination either.

Watch below to see where Results actually fits in. Here’s the path:

Thinking leads to Beliefs to Emotion to Goals & Decisions to Actions to Results

The ripples caused by your original thinking do not end here. As your actions begin to create results in the real world they affect the following:

Your results first effect You then Your Family then Your Immediate Network then Your Community or Tribe then (And this has changed a lot since the invention of the internet) now the World and onward to the Universe.

More later on how you actually affect the Universe. This one will surprise you:

(We will go into greater detail on definitions of these in the future)

Some of the effects of your action are certainly more noticeable than others and some of your actions have more profound effects on those around you than others. But there is a concept called the Butterfly effect which states that all things are effect eventually even by the smallest of actions like a butterfly flapping its wings.

For todays purposes it is important to recognize that this path of getting to results meaning, Thinking to create Beliefs which create Emotions Which cause goals & Decisions which create Actions which produce Results, this is the same for everyone. There wis only one way to create results and this is it. Even if the results you are creating happen as part of a team or delegation the early steps from thought to decision are still included. There is only one way.
Where people get the idea that there are different ways is that there are definitely differences in thoughts , beliefs, emotions, goals and actions that produce those results. If we were to look again at the analogy of road being the path. The differences of how a person moves along that path could be compared to the mode of transportation. Some people are walking and very slowly I might add, others are driving a high powered sports car.

As you grow more successful in your ability to drive this path you graduate to faster and more effective vehicles. As you are more creative in your approach and do things that others won’t, can’t or don’t think of the vehicle you select also improves. As you enlist the help of others in your journey your vehicle also improves and so does the quality of the ride.

One secret that will increase

your sales instantly by 65% or more!

By Douglas Vermeeren

Increase your sales by 65%

There are many aspects of the selling cycle that a successful sales person must learn. To name a few these include lead generation, scheduling appointments, product presentation, closing the sale, delivery, follow up, asking for referrals and client management. When each of these areas can demand so much from our time it is easy to understand why we often neglect development in the one area which has the most impact.

That one area that has the most impact on your bottom line has to do with creating a powerful product presentation for your client.

Most sales trainers and expert sales people agree that the presentation is the most important part of the sales cycle. It is in the presentation that the customer decides to buy or not to buy. It is in your presentation that your money is made.

Your presentation is about more than just creating a powerful product demo for your to see what you know. It is about creating the right presentation for your client to understand how what you offer can be valuable to them.

I remember in one of my first jobs involving sales (and in almost every sales job after that too) that we had a scripted presentation. The presentation was the same for everyone we met, there were no variations. I have even had sales jobs where it was actually a requirement to memorize the presentation script down to the letter. The results were never brilliant.

And even without a scripted presentation I found challenges. When I was left to create my own ‘sales pitches’ so to speak, I found that after a few dozen times my ‘pitch’ sounded  more or less the same.

As I met with prospective clients it seemed that about 20% of the time the script would would reasonable well and they would buy something from me. I was always excited when this happened, but I wondered what was going wrong when I presented for the other folks. It almost seemed like a roll of the dice or a numbers game. I was told by my supervisors that if I just kept at it I would eventually find the ‘right’ people that wanted to buy and I would be successful. At the time it made sense. But as I thought about it more I wondered why more people didn’t buy. Was I doing something wrong? What I had to offer was valuable. The product solved the problems that even the non-buying people had.  It was affordable. What was the problem?

I have learned a lot since then.

One of the great discoveries was the theory of the 5 ways your brain learns. While it has had significant implications for my own brain, I have been astounded by the results it has had as I have interacted with others.

When we understand a persons dominant learning styles and the way their brain processes information we can begin to communicate with them in a way that makes sense for them. And when something makes sense in the way the prospect needs to hear it they make a commitment to take direct action and purchase. It is that simple.

Our thinking patterns are very peculiar and finicky. The brain sorts information very quickly and makes many decisions based on the way we have have trained it over time.

We are each unique individuals and it is no wonder that when our presentations are generically scripted that our results are not spectacular. If information is not arriving to prospect in a way that their brain needs to hear it, that information will not be valued and in some cases may even be misunderstood.

By using the strategies of the 5 ways your brain learns you can raise your positive response rates significantly and increase your bottom line in the process.

Since implementing this programs for sales companies in the United States and Canada  I have noticed a dramatic increase in the sales results for many companies and individuals. On average the increase was 65%.

If you could increase your annual income by 65% how much more money would that be? Is that a financial
increase you would like to have in your life?

Now here’s the good news, this result is not that difficult to attain. There are just a few easy lessons you need to master.
