Most people can come up with great ideas and are extremely creative. I am one of those people and I see others like me everywhere I go. Until I learned that the rewards are in being bold, taking action and then finishing the job (or hiring others to help you finish the job) you will never create massive success. What can you do today to start, keep going and finish at a level of competence? That’s where the real rewards are!!! #personalpowermastery #douglasvermeeren #ppmDouglas Vermeeren Personal Power Mastery 177

Waking up just 30 minutes earlier gives you an edge – Personal Power Mastery minute

Douglas Vermeeren - Personal Power MAstery 158As I studied the daily patterns of the most successful people in the world I wasn’t surprised to find this one. Are you getting started early in the day or do you like to sleep in as long as possible? Or maybe you just like a few extra minutes…Maybe its time for a shift? #personalpowermastery #PPM #douglasvermeeren #EARLYSTART

How you start the day often determines the kind of day you will have. Too often average people look for how they can hold back and relax. They assume that a few extra minutes in bed will make their day more relaxed and less stress. The opposite is actually true. By holding back and staying in bed a little longer you actually are creating more stress as it now becomes necessary to spend the day catching up.

You’ll find even waking up an extra 30 minutes earlier will give you the advantage of sorting out your day and getting things off on the right foot. Start in control and you’ll find you stay in control.

30 minutes may not seem like much but in the overall scheme of things it is often just enough to allow you to take control of your morning rather than have you respond and rush to take care of everything that you need to do.

There’s an old saying that successful people do that which is hard first, so they can do that which is difficult later. Broke and broken people take the easy route first and in the end get stuck with everything that is hard.

Make a choice now that you get the days tougher things behind you first. And for some the toughest is simply to roll out of bed and get started.

One final observation: Momentum is a key factor to getting out of bed. Like everyone else I know it can be hard to wake up. (Especially when I’m teaching a seminar in a location that has a different time zone than my own. My UK seminars start at 9am their time – 2 am my time. That means my day often starts at midnight when I am over there. It’s not always easy to get out of bed at that hour. Especially when you throw in the airplanes trips and the rest.) However the one thing I have learned is that the key is momentum. Create it before you feel like. Get moving and you will start moving.

When you get started early you’ll find that you will have plenty of time for rest later. And there is a peace that comes from knowing that the hard stuff is behind you.

Wishing you success,

Doug

Are you a speaker looking to grow your business? Here’s two quick tips for you.

By Douglas Vermeeren, 10X Your Speaking Business

I have been a speaker for more than a decade now. (actually maybe even closer to two) and I have seen a few things along the way. Some of these strategies for growing your speaking business have been awesome and some not so great. Recently I was asked by one of my students what is the absolute best way to grow your speaking business and I had two specific ideas come to mind. Here they are:

1) Remember that your business is connection

Most speakers follow a very traditional approach where they prepare their presentation and then present. Their presentation if you follow them around for a while is basically the same no matter who, where or when they are presenting. And believe it or not this is not just a beginner mistake. I was recently at an event with a very well-known speaker who you would certainly know. I have shared the stage with him multiple times before and guess what each time (including this time – which is ten years since the first time I shared the stage with him) his presentation is identical to every other time I have seen him speak. Naturally there were others in the audience who had heard him before who probably also noticed. All the jokes, stories and points he shared were exactly where they were last time. Did he connect with his audience? NOPE. I have to give it a great big fat fail. Connection is what keeps your audience coming back and also staying connected between talks too. (More on this in another post, but for todays purposes I’m am just going to stress that you need connection or your speaking business will not survive.)

2) Leveraging authority and relationships

The second point in these two steps has helped me to grow my speaking business faster than any other idea. I call this one leveraging authority or relationships. It is quite simple actually. When I first started as a speaker (and you might be here right now) no one knew my name. And because I was so new and invisible no one really cared either. It was difficult to get speaking gigs on my own and even more difficult if I was hosting my own event to get people to come. Quite by accident I was invited to share the stage with some speakers who were well known. (If my memory serves me correctly it was Brian Tracy and Jack Canfield.) Now those two guys are very well know internationally and excellent speakers. being part of the event with them immediately increased my credibility and contributed to my database. You can imagine I was also able to use the marketing that featured me with those guys in many of my future marketing. here’s a link actually to an early TV commercial that had Jack Canfield, myself and another speaker. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1AutPT4HCk

Leveraging authority has helped me grow my brand quickly and powerfully. One of the things that also really helped was I acquired tickets for many of the groups or individuals I knew would hire me to speak but had never heard of me. Naturally they would have to sit through me to get to someone like Brian or Jack. This strategy was great for getting me booked.

Anyways, I am sure I will share much more on these two points and others in the future but for today there are a few things to think about.

Are you an Influence Seller™?

leave a comment »

Doug Vermeeren was recently just looking through social media to identify how many posts are directly related to asking for something or selling something. My goal was to see engagement. Do you know what I found? Those who actually shared value first (and often much more than once) had far more engagement than the others. This goes to prove the point that I am writing about in the Learn to Sell or Die Book – We live in a time of Influence Selling™ not transactional selling. (That is not to say that transactions don’t happen – they need to if you are going to stay in business.) But the point is that there has been a massive shift and if you don’t understand that people expect you to deliver high value and future a relationship before selling then you will struggle in this marketplace. The funniest part of this is that almost everyone agrees with me. The problem is that no one is doing it in practice. Here’s the question for you. What are you doing to create value in the marketplace right now before you ask for anything? What are you doing? #DouglasVermeeren #learntosellordie #influenceselling #sales

Why Do You Need Someone To kick Your Ass?

leave a comment »

Douglas Vermeeren

Simply put. You need someone to kick your ass because you are average. Your results are average. You aren’t doing things at the high level which you know you could be. Everything that you do is generally based on your patterns and how easy and accessible things are for you today. You haven’t decided to stretch to your potential and you are holding back your very best.  Don’t make excuses. You know that everything I am saying is true.

If you want to expand and grow your results YOU need to start with you. You will never grow results larger than yourself. Get out there and get to work.

When I meet with entrepreneurs, sales people, business owners and those pursuing increased results the prescription is so often the same – GET TO WORK!  Hustle is the name of the game, yet the activity of choice is to try and find the easy way.

Don’t do it. Get to work. Work hard.

Get your momentum going so you can enjoy your results in the future. That is the only way.

The End of my rant.
