Recently I was witness to a sales presentation that seemed to go on and on without any kind of participation from the prospect. Instead the “rockstar” presenter took the stage and although he had the prospect smiling and laughing not once did he slow down for participation. At the conclusion of the offer the prospect thanked the rockstar for the good time but decided to pass. Looking back on the situation it wasn’t because the prospect didn’t need or couldn’t afford the product. It really came down to the fact that the prospect was not engaged. There was no connection between the prospect and the product.

So here’s the question for you today?

Connection comes from engagement. How are you getting your customers engaged when you share your offers?

The truth about excuses

Excuses keep people from so many things that would make their life better. Chances are pretty good that you’ve missed out on some of the greatest moments in your life simply because you let an excuse knock you out or keep you from even getting started with stuff you needed to do. Even when the ideas of inspiration come within you those same excuses have robbed you and taken that idea away. It sucks. It really does. You could have really been so much more.

But here is the truth about excuses today. When you can recognize this about excuses you will have more power to do the things you really want and achieve the success you deserve. Now I will start with one caveat and a last thought on why beating excuses is so important. Heres the caveat.

The number of excuses you chose to eliminate will be completely up to you. Beating excuses is not a one time event it will be something you have to do again and again and again. Everyday. Maybe even multiple times a day. It will not be easy. You will have to be aggressive and recognize these excuses every single time they show up.

And here’s the thought. There is an old Samurai saying that says “when we conquer the enemy within there is no enemy with out that can defeat us.” You’ve already heard that success is an inside job. Well, so is defeat. You need to decide right now that you will master the power over excuses so that you can create the things in your life that you really know want and deserve. You can develop your ability to reign over and destroy excuses. It is a habit that can be cultivated and built. So get started now!!!

Here’s the truth about excuses that I promised you.

YOU ONLY CREATE AN EXCUSE FOR THINGS YOU HAVE POWER OVER.

In other words you only create an excuse when you actually have or had the power to do differently.

For example, If you say I will do it next time. Right now I just don’t have the time. You actually do have the time. You are actually just making a choice that the item you are excusing yourself from is just not priority.

If you say I am not making the phone call they probably aren’t there right now anyways. You actually have the power to make the call and you don’t always know if they’ll be there or not.

We only make excuses for something we could do. We don’t make excuses for things beyond our power. We don’ t make excuses for the weather, gravity or the way grass grows. We only excuses what we could have either done better or the things that we could do. Think about that next time and just get started.

Besides excuses never built anything.

Selling is a key to wealth

Sales is one of the most important but dreaded skills you will have to develop if you want to become wealthy.  Sales are the way that all transactions take place. And I’m not just talking about financial transactions. In fact, sales are at the beginning of everything. Before you can receive money from someone you also have to sell them on the idea of what you are doing. That is generally thought of as the beginning… but there is even a series of steps that happens before that.

Before you can sell anyone on a transaction with you or even getting them to buy into your ideas there is one person that needs to be sold first. That person is you. You need to sell yourself every time you feel like staying longer in bed than you need to, every time you feel like you don’t want to get to work, or make those phone calls you know you should or whatever effort is required to stay grinding out your success.

It is not easy. And if you can’t sell yourself on going that little bit extra further you will never have great success convincing others that you are bringing a great opportunity to them. The energy you create in yourself is contagious. If your prospect senses that you are only partial involved and committed to what you are doing they will respond the same way.

So next time you are stalling or procrastinating something you know you should do – sell yourself on the idea and get started.

Financial freedom is not an experience. it’s an exact number.

Just received a really cool thank you card from one of my students who expressed that learning the principle of what financial freedom really looks like meant to her. I must admit that when I learned this concept, that everyone misunderstands, from one of my mentors it also changed my life. If you’ve been to one of my events where we’ve talked about this principle you get it too. Financial freedom to most people is an emotional experience. In other words: more time off, more time with family, travel, the ability to do what you want, not worry about bills, etc. These are all incorrect definitions. Instead Financial freedom is one exact number. It is specific and clear and as such is attainable and near. When we know specifics we can achieve it. Your financial freedom is the exact amount of money you need to satisfy your obligations every single money. And to be truly free this amount of money needs to arrive passively.
